Step 2 Interventions

Following your initial telephone assessment, your Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner could encorporate any of the following interventions into your treatment plan. These will be tailored to fit your individual needs and help you work towards recovery:

Guided Self-Help. This uses self-help materials (in the form of booklets/worksheets) based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with regular telephone support from your Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. It encourages you to work through the materials and set goals on a weekly basis as agreed by yourself and your Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT). This is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy provided by an interactive computer programme. The programme can be accessed in your own home or on a PC in your local library. cCBT is offered by our Online Support Practitioners who you will have regular appointments with to follow your recovery progress. For more information click here.

Employment support. We have Employment Advisers to help you sort out problems at work that are related to your mental health difficulties.

Signposting to other services. We can point you in the right direction to other services which can offer you specialist support.

Medication advice. Advice about ways of managing the effects of any medicines you may have been prescribed.

Lifestyle support. Advice about exercise, diet, sleep and healthy living.

Bibliotherapy. Your Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner may suggest using the Books on Prescription scheme. These books can work well either on their own or used in conjunction with other forms of treatment. They can be accessed through any Hampshire Library Service. For more information please see Books On Prescription.

Group workshops. Groups will be held in local communities to help people manage conditions such as stress, as well as offering introduction to CBT.

We understand that everyone is an individual and as such, some interventions will work for one person, and just won’t suit another. The range that our PWPs can offer ensures that everyone who uses italk has a programme shaped to their individual needs.
