I have obsessive and compulsive thoughts or behaviour

Obsessive compulsive disorder, commonly known as OCD, is an anxiety based disorder which can take over a sufferer's life to the extent where every day they are severely affected by it.

It is estimated that one in 50 people will suffer from it at some point in their lives, which equates to around one million people in the UK*.

Signs that you have OCD:

  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Repeat certain actions or rituals or check constantly e.g. returning to the house to check you’ve switched the gas off

The thoughts cause anxiety which leads you to perform various actions to check. Unfortunately, if you suffer from OCD the relief you get is only temporary, which is why treatment is the most effective way to overcome your problems.
Once you’ve had an assessment your practitioner can discuss the most suitable form of treatment for you.
