How to Join Self Care for Carers

There are three simple steps to joining our Self Care for Carers class:

  1. Register: Once you've got your registration link (see below), register to get your joining link by email.
  2. Check in: The day before the class, we’ll send you a questionnaire by email to check in with how you’re feeling. Please complete this questionnaire before the webinar starts.
  3. Attend: On the day, just click your joining link and the session will start.

Tip: If you have any difficulty joining us, simply email hsiccg.italkweb@nhs.net or call 023 8038 3920 and we’ll do our best to help.

How to register

For security reasons, we ask all patients to register in advance for the class. You can do this up to an hour before the class starts, as long as there are still places available. Once you've registered, you'll receive your joining link by email.

You will get your registration link in one of two ways:

  • Booking directly online: If you booked online, you will find a registration link in your confirmation email. The link is called "Book Webinar Online" and will be at the bottom of the email alongside the dates and times of the course.

  • Talking to us: If you have been talking to us on the phone, we will email you a link to register for the session. This can sometimes go to your 'junk' or 'spam' folder, so check there if our email doesn't arrive straight away.

When you click the link to register, you will be taken to the Zoom website.

You'll be asked for your name and email address. Please read the Zoom privacy policy for information about how this will be used. If you do not consent to provide your name and email address to Zoom, do not register for the webinar. Instead, please contact us to discuss alternative options.

Please note: Your name will also be visible to other attendees in the participants list.

Popular Questions

How does an online class work?

Our Self Care for Carers class uses a Zoom meeting. When you join the session, your camera and microphone will already be off, and it’s your choice whether you’d like to switch them on.

Please be aware that your name will be visible to others in the list of attendees. If you choose to turn on your camera, it will also show alongside your video.

What's it like?

Our friendly NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire practitioners will facilitate the session. They will present the class and facilitate group discussions.

We usually expect around 20 - 30 attendees and there will be some interactive elements and group discussions, but no pressure to speak if you prefer to watch and listen.

At the end of the 1 hour class, we will keep the session open for 30 minutes for any participants who would like to stay and chat with eachother. This is optional, and you can choose at the end of the class whether to leave or stay. We may use a feature called 'breakout rooms' for this, which brings participants into smaller groups so that it's easier to chat. One of our facilitators will join each small group for the safety and comfort of all participants.

Will I need a microphone or camera?

We recommend using a device that has a front-facing camera and microphone. This can be a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet.

If you do not have a camera or microphone, you will still be able to access the session to watch and listen. You will also be able to type questions directly to our facilitators using the chat feature.

Will people be able to see and hear me?

It’s up to you. When you join, your camera and microphone (if you have them) will already be off, so it’s your choice whether to turn them on. You’re welcome to simply watch and listen.

Will I be able to ask questions?

Yes, there will be opportunities to ask questions and participate in discussions if you choose to. You can also type them directly to our facilitators using the chat feature.

Will I need to download anything?

If you join from a smartphone or tablet you will need to download the Zoom App.  Search “Zoom Cloud Meetings” in your app store. Once you have done this, your joining link will open our class in the Zoom app.

If you join from a computer or tablet, you don’t need to download Zoom and your joining link will open our class as a website. If you prefer, you can download Zoom from www.zoom.us and the link will open in the Zoom program.
