Living with Uncertainty

What we learned:

We looked at uncertainty through the lens of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and introduced the 5 Areas model as a way of understanding how uncertainty can create a vicious cycle.

We discussed challenging our need for certainty. We know that we live in an uncertain world and by accepting this we can stop looking for certainty and instead begin to increase our tolerance of the unknown. We can do this by using the APPLE technique and the Worry Time Technique which help us to accept uncertainty while exercising control over our worries.

We also looked at how we can live well alongside uncertainty by refocusing our attention back to the present moment, allowing us to enjoy the things that really matter to us while accepting that there will always be things that are beyond our control.
